Summer Vacation 2019 – Arches National Park, Utah

Hi! My name is Jenni Selissen. Welcome to my blog, Life’s Simple Journey! As you and I both know, life is not always that simple. It is often filled with ups and downs that lead us on our journey and shape our path. My hope is to shed some light on life from the perspective of a wife, mother, and full-time professional.

Let me introduce you to my biggest source of inspiration for this blog – my family – my life, my loves and my happiness.

My Family

The Selissens – party of 5

I have been married to my husband for almost 18 years. We are high school sweethearts that have experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in life. My husband is my biggest cheerleader and my rock during the heartache of life. We are a great compliment to each other and are on the same page in the parenting world, which is extremely helpful since no one wrote the book on our kids.

My kids – above all else are my greatest accomplishments in life. I am the mother of 3 amazing humans. They are my heart walking around outside of my body. Right now, I am navigating the teenage years as well as toddlerhood all in the same day! My oldest son is 15 and a half, my second is almost 12, and rounding out our crew is our 3 year old daughter. But, I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world!

My “Day” Job

I am an educator by trade and have worked with students in the area of special education for the past 19 years. A job is this field means, I am basically a jack of all trades in the education world.

Throughout this time, many have asked how I have lasted so long. The burnout rate for special education teachers is high. My answer- I LOVE what I do. I LOVE my job. Each day is a new day. If you believe this, it brings a different perspective to getting up and going to work each day!

About 6 years ago, I decided to go back to school (because I hadn’t gotten enough yet!) for my reading license. This added an additional area of expertise. With my true passion being in the area of reading and writing this seemed to be the perfect option and compliment to a career I already love.

My Why

My why – I simply love to write. Putting my thoughts down on paper has truly helped me through some tough times. While reading other bloggers’ post, I have often wondered if people would benefit from my own words. My hope is to share my journey with you through my writing, giving you some things to think about while you are navigating your own life’s adventure.

XOXO,

Jenni
